Learning My Way was designed because every child is different. There is no one size fits all program when it comes to student achievement. Research shows that their are various factors contribute to a child's academic success such as  interest, ability, readiness, learning style, and support,. Our goal at Learning My Way is to take into account each child's individual placement as it pertains to these factors when designing a tutoring program.  It allows the child's personal interest to be intergrated into teaching material, thus fostering the desire for learning. Learning My Way also takes into account what your child is personally capable of based on formal and informal assessments. Does he or she need interventions to help them better understand the material they are being presented. Could your child need to be challenged more with more rigorous and indepth activities. In addition we look at the child's mental maturity and decide if they are ready for more concrete tasks or tasks that are able to work with abstract concepts. Still yet another very important factor which we determine is your child's learning style because children can be auditory, visual, linguistic, tactile, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and/or spacial learners. This helps us choose the best method to present new information. The final consideration is the level of support your child receives. We design supplementary activites that can be done independently or one-on-one depending on the amount of assistance available. We are thinking of the whole child as an individual and taking into consideration each part of what makes them unique and capable of being successful.
